Today the students worked on summarizing(a review skill) those passages. Also students are completing a Remembrance Quilt Square to construct a fourth grade quilt. Stop by and see our quilt in the main hall of SES during the month of September.

Fourth Grade Rocks!

It was so great to see so many of your faces yesterday at student orientation. I look forward to meeting the rest of you bright and early on Monday morning. Fourth grade will be a big change from last year. We will work together to make sure you have a smooth transition.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Student Orientation will be on Wednesday, August 3rd from 12:00-2:30. All students are encouraged to drop by with their parents to meet their new teacher and bring their school supplies. It makes the first day of school much less stressful not having to carry arm loads of supplies. It also helps parents by allowing them time to complete all the back to school paperwork and ask questions.

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer. I can not wait to meet my new fourth graders! We've had a few changes to our schedule from last year. I believe it will be a wonderful change for everyone.

See you soon!
Mrs. Mack

This week the Math team is practicing for their upcoming tournament, so the fourth grade is not changing classes for two days. We have taken this opportunity to do an art history lesson and complete a masterpiece! We learned about Vincent van Gogh today and learned some of his techniques. We studied foreground, middle ground, and background. The above painting by Vincent van Gogh titled Wheatfield with Cypresses was our inspiration.

Family night at the Art Celebration will be Thursday, April 19th. We hope you all will be able to attend so you can see what your little van Gogh has painted.

How do you like the iPads? What do you like to do on them?

I loved the ipads. They were so fun! My favorite game was Oregon Trail,Cake Doodle, and Ant Smasher. The most fun part was that we had the olsat test today. We went to P.E and then we did a worksheet. We got to play on the ipad. I had sooooo much fun today it was even more fun because we did not have to change classes!

Tamberlie

I LOVE MRS.MACK! : ) : )
What is your favorite game on the iPad?

I like the cake game on  ipad. I  play  on it. After  the test  Mrs.  Guilford  let  us  play. Thank you. Mrs.Guilford

Leslie
Did you like testing? Why or why not?

My testing went good. It was easy. It was tiring and bored. Some minutes of it, but it was easy. The part I really liked is the 40 minute one. That was easy. Glad we are done with the test. I hate testing but we have to do it.The subtraction was kind of  hard but the plus is easy and the multiplication. When we got done with testing we got to play on ipads that was my most fun part. I want testing to come back because you don't change classes. I would rather do testing than change classes. Please testing come back I don't want to change classes tomorrow. The reason why I want it to come back is because of the peace and quiet. I like peace and quiet.Dont you? I love testing(:(:(:!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Mrs.Mack
love, Breanna
How did testing go this week?

It was easy.  i love to get that over with.We had to get it all in our heads all at once and had to keep it there so it was hard for me to do that all at one time. So we got it all out on the test so I still got in my head but put away in my head in like in a little room in my head. Macie and I  are so happy to get that over with so are all my other friends. I am probably the most of all. I  just don't want any more test this week. We loved to get that all over with this past two weeks were crazy. I so wish that we had our ar points.
I was so happy that I had my ar points last three 9 weeks. I love my home room people! l0ve, Jordan

Pennies for a Purpose

Our school practices the 4Bs-Be Responsible, Be Prepared, Be Respectful, and Be a Learner. Through this positive behavior plan we are learning various character traits. Our most recent is kindness. Our class is continuing this trait by participating in an activity called "Pennies with a Purpose". The purpose of this activity is to show the students that "one small act (symbolized by the penny) can grow into many good acts."

Today after our test the students were asked to submit names of charities or organizations that they would like to raise money for in the coming weeks.

Below are the most popular choices-

Ronald McDonald House
Relay for Life
St. Jude Children's Hospital
Christian Service Center
Pennies for Posho
An Indian orphanage sponsored by a local church

Tomorrow students who voted for these choices will tell a little about the organization to their classes. All of the fourth graders will then vote to see which organization we will sponsor with Pennies for a Purpose.

My heart was so happy today as I read all of the suggestions from the students. I am proud of your generosity fourth graders!
